This workshop invites artists of any discipline, (such as painters, actors, writers, circus artists, musicians, photographers, furniture designers etc) to a collaborative session to explore ideas around creating an Art Rave; a live event that celebrates individual artists working with different mediums. The title, Art Rave, is social, celebratory and immersive by nature and evokes a cultural place where everyone is experiencing something together, audience and artist.
The vision for Art Rave is the creation of an extraordinary immersive event that brings together a range of artists to showcase their work for an audience.
This may include creating new work live, showcasing existing work, fresh collaborations, participation elements and ensemble moments of shared narrative. The aim of the Art Rave is to provide new platforms for artists to share work and collaborate across artforms and abilities.
This workshop will explore the concept of what an Art Rave could be and how it could benefit individual artists. This workshop will act as research and development of the ideas.
This workshop will encourage artists to:
Play, explore and improvise
Push the boundaries of your chosen artform
Explore new ways of working
Discuss collaboration between artists and artforms
Discuss access, current barriers and explore solutions
Consider the experience for the audience and discuss creative, active ways of engaging them
This session will be led by Bridie Doyle-Roberts, a multi-disciplined Artist based in Pontypridd with 15 years experience as a Director/Choreographer. Bridie is partially sighted and passionate about making art accessible for people with low vision.
Creative Industries Cluster Hubs is a multi-stakeholder project led by Cardiff University’s Centre for the Creative Economy. It works in partnership with local authorities across the Cardiff Capital Region to convene grassroots creative networks and activity.
