The programme is in partnership with Welsh ICE – the Innovation Centre for Enterprise – who have been awarded funding from Newport City Council via the UK Government to run business startup programmes across the city in partnership with other local organisations.

Offering free business development programmes and coaching for anyone who is from a global majority background, is D/deaf, disabled or neurodivergent, LGBTQIA+ or comes from an educationally, socially or economically disadvantaged background and who has a new business idea in any sector – from fashion, beauty and fintech, to food and beverage.

The programmes are open to anyone living in or wanting to start their business in Newport, and you don’t need to be a graduate of USW to join.

The sessions will run on a Thursday (between 9.30am and 3pm) and include a business development programme and 1-2-1 mentoring. In addition, participants can then base their business in USW’s new Startup Stiwdio incubator in the city centre campus, benefitting from extensive business networks across South Wales.
