Introducing our newest member of Newport Stiwdio, Julie-Anne, of Bake-Well therapy:
1.I joined the Stiwdio in July 2024
2.I studied BA Counselling and Therapeutic Practice at Newport Campus, and have qualified as a pluralistic integrative counsellor with a first class honours.
3. My business idea/concept is to set up as a freelance counsellor trading under the name Bake-Well Therapy. I will be providing private individual counselling in Newport and online to individuals across the lifespan (children to older adults), as well as providing short term counselling contracts and therapeutic baking group programmes to organisations. I plan to play my part in helping improve the mental health and wellbeing of people in local communities by offering counselling (which focuses on the individuals unique needs) and therapeutic baking groups designed to promote connection, develop an individuals coping skills, resilience and wellbeing, through a mindful and sensory based activity. I have personal experience of the positive impact of baking on my own mental health and have previously seen the positive impact of baking groups whilst running them voluntarily and hope to share this knowledge within the community.
4.I joined Startup Stiwdio to be able to learn from those who are already self-employed and more experienced than me, as well as give back my own information and knowledge when possible. I’m excited to be a part of a community of likeminded individuals. I have already had a lot of support from USW’s enterprise team and I am therefore excited to see how I can grow and develop whilst being part of the stiwdio!
