British Business Bank – funding talk

In this session Jess will talk through the funding options for startups, rationale for seeking external finance and equity incentives for investors and founders. Throughout the session, founders will find out more about the programmes run by British Business Bank and will be encouraged to ask questions and engage. This session is suitable for early stage founders looking to better understand the external finance options for their business and what to consider ahead of applying.

Jess is the on-the-ground advocate for small business finance in Wales. As the UK Network, Senior Manager for Wales for the British Business Bank, Jess aims to improve access to finance for Welsh SMEs to support a thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem. Jess works with stakeholders across Wales to understand ecosystem needs and current support mechanisms in order to deliver targeted interventions around potential areas for improvement.

Examples of the interventions Jess has supported include the Meet the Funder programme – connecting equity investors with Welsh startups, an Investor Readiness Programme, Pitch events and backing of the Women Angels of Wales. Her previous roles in innovation, enterprise support and research sparked her passion and drive to support small businesses.
