In September, Startup Stiwdio launched its new business development programme, open to any and all creatives in the Newport area. Delivered in person at the USW Newport campus, the new workshops are in partnership with Welsh ICE; with funding from Newport City Council via the UK Government’s Shared Prosperity Scheme, and mark the triumphant return of the Creative Business Hub (piloted last year in the city in partnership with Creative Cardiff.)
For those not in the creative sector, the second in the series is due to commence in January 2025, specifically targeted at anyone who is from a global majority background, is D/deaf, disabled or neurodivergent, or comes from an educationally/environmentally or economically disadvantaged background. It will be open for new business ideas in any sector – from fashion, beauty and fintech, to food and beverage.
Thanks to external funding, Startup Stiwdio has been able to expand its reach within communities across Newport and widen the networks of new and existing graduate members.
