Sensory Art Bubble

Introducing the newest member of Cardiff Stiwdio, Aimee Spencer.

1.When did you join Startup Stiwdio?
I joined in January 2025.

2.What course did you study at USW?

I studied an MA in Arts Practice (Arts, Health and Wellbeing).

3.Tell me about your business idea and concept?

Throughout my illustrative practice, I have always loved studying aquatic life and mini beasts. Then when studying for my MA I conducted a lot of research into the bodies sensory systems and different ways of engaging with the world. My business, Sensory Art Bubble, is the culmination of these two areas of interest.

Through Sensory Art Bubble, I want to develop and offer two things:

*Inclusive sensory workshops for babies, individuals with profound and multiple learning difficulties and their parents and guardians. Parents and guardians are pulled in so many directions, with working, running a home and raising their children. I want to create a space where parents can come and join me in my bubble, taking a step out of the busy world for a brief period! Where they can enjoy a safe and relaxing time with their child through story telling, art and the bodies senses.

*Unique, tactile and functional art pieces. Created using a mixed media approach, to celebrate the ocean and mini beasts of the land. Showcasing the beauty that we miss around us because it’s so small or underwater. A little something from my bubble to yours!

4.Why have you joined the startup Stiwdio?

I had been looking for somewhere that could offer me support consistently beyond short term workshops. It is through this regular guidance, that I want to underpin my business knowledge so that I can learn and grow.
