Introducing the newest member of Cardiff Stiwdio, Mari Northall of Symudiad Kokoro / Kokoro Arts.

Joined on the 14th Of January, 2025.

3.Tell me about your business idea and concept?
Symudiad Kokoro / Kokoro Arts is an organization that champions inclusion, diversity and access in the arts. Facilitating networking events, creative youth projects and empowering young creatives, our organization creates opportunities for young artists (dance/movement, media, or art) to explore, create and collaborate.
This is delivered through various projects:
- Bilingual School Workshops
An exploration into expression, performance and film, these sessions would bring pupils into a creative space to try some fun activities whilst gaining access to performance space and camera/ sound equipment. This can be adapted to themes for the current curriculum/school projects…
- Taith – International Creative Youth Project
Previously we have run projects in Latvia and Cyprus, this is an ongoing relationship. A yearly event, bringing 10 – 15 young (wales based) creatives (ages 18 – 26) in an exploration of movement and wellbeing, that creates a non-judgemental and caring space for young people to try new things and explore outside of their comfort zones.

4.Why have you joined the startup Stiwdio?
We joined Startup Stiwdio because, as a small organization, we needed a professional and welcoming space where clients and collaborators could meet in a peaceful environment. The studio’s strong connection to the university was also a key factor, as many of the artists and performers we work with are talented graduates from USW’s Dance, Film, Performance, and Media courses. Additionally, being able to work within the studio space and utilize the available equipment will greatly support our growth as an organization.
